I am saddened at the departure of Elder Michael Sing but greatly comforted that he is no longer suffering and is now with his beloved Saviour and Lord Jesus Christ, to enjoy worship and fellowship with our Lord for all eternity.
I am forever indebted to our Lord and to Elder Michael as he was the one used by our Lord to share the Gospel with me, brought me to Church and to know our Lord, about 30 years ago when we worked together at Changi Airport.
My life was completely changed after our Lord led me to Himself. I found meaning in life and able to live a meaningful and fulfilling life in our Lord and by His grace. We were in the same churches thereafter ie Maranatha BPC, Berean BPC and for these 19 years at Pilgrim Covenant Church (PCC).
I have learned a lot from Elder Michael. His love and devotion to our Lord is exemplary. He is like an older brother to me and I will always remember him in this way.
I am thankful to our Lord for the opportunities to spend time with this beloved brother-in-Christ in my last 3 visits in the last days of his life. It means a lot to me to be able to walk this journey with him in the last days of his life.
Over the years, Elder Michael has shown many kindness to my family and me. My late mother who went Home to be with our Lord 3 years ago always remember Elder Michael fondly. My sister, Irene and my 2 brothers, Freddy and Arthur too, remember Elder Michael fondly.
My brother, Freddy loves Elder Michael very much and he gave Elder Michael a very big and warm hug 2 years ago when we visited Elder Michael in his home. Elder Michael messaged me after that to say he was very touched by the warm hug that Freddy gave him. He said it was one of the most sincere hug he had ever received. Freddy was encouraged and comforted when I told him. Thank God they can mutually encouraged one another.
When I shared with Freddy on Saturday afternoon after I visited Elder Michael at Dover Park Hospice, Freddy was greatly saddened. He requested me to read Psalm 23 to Elder Michael, on his behalf, as he said he would have love to do so himself if he could fly to Singapore to visit him. Thank God I managed to do so yesterday when I visited Elder Michael and stayed back at the Hospice.
Although on Lord's day afternoon Elder Michael was already not able to open his eyes or talk, when many brethren and I visited him at the Hospice, he could still hear us when we or his family members spoke to him. Some of us could see him moving a little and wanting to say something while some of us show tears coming out of his eyes when we spoke.
When I was about to leave the Hospice on Lord's day afternoon, I spoke again to Elder Michael to assure him of our Lord's love, his family's, our Church brethren's and my family's love for him. Elder Michael's youngest brother, Chok Onn and his wife were there. Then we all saw tears coming out of Elder Michael's eyes! This brought great comfort to me, Chok Onn and his wife. Chok Onn quickly shared with his brothers and I shared with his fourth sister-in-law who also loves him very much. I am sure the assurance of love to Elder Michael means a lot to him and he is saddened to leave us.
We will miss Elder Michael but we are greatly comforted that he is with our Lord Who loves him and gave His life for him.
Our deepest condolences to his brothers, sister-in-laws, nephews and nieces.
Psalm 116:15 "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints."
Revelation 21:4 "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away."
With fond memories,
Nancie, Freddy, Irene and Arthur."
